Behind a lot of how we behave and think is unresolved trauma. I am trained as a trauma-informed therapist and proceed with the possibility of a past trauma beginning from our first meeting together. For this reason, it is important to me to create a safe, caring space for us to work together as a team.

These particular identities may consist of race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic background, religion, or perhaps folks living with disabilities. Each plays a factor in how we experience the world as well as how we experience mental health treatment. What begins as a way to cope with uncomfortable feelings later morphs into a problem we can no longer get our arms around. A substance use disorder is a complex condition affecting the decision-making part of the midbrain. I am trained in the gold standard of addiction counseling--cognitive behavior therapy and motivational interviewing used together to first, get you sober, and second, begin processing the mental health component of your addiction.
I have been in recovery for more than a decade and feel a close connection with folks who wish to get on top of their addiction(s).
The days after a hospital discharge can be a difficult thing--especially when trying to get started with outpatient services. I have extensive experience in crisis counseling (suicidal and homicidal thinking as well as formal thought disorders). I also understand the challenge of navigating the gap between a psychiatric hospital stay and getting connected to services once discharged.
